“I thought we had already talked about the Twitter Birds” said Sprite
“Well yes, but you have not discussed the main storylines concerning the Tweet Family and the Psych-Owl-Ogist in sufficient depth” replied P’est Pour Parfait, the Perfectionist Poodle, who had arrived to make a final inspection of Sprite’s Site entry in the Australian Writers’ Centre Best Australian Blogs 2013 competition

The Tweet Family stories began with the marriage of Tweet and Retweet in August 2011

In February 2012 Retweet laid a blue egg and a pink egg and in March 2012 the tweetlets, Tweetil and Tweetelle, hatched.

By late March the tweetlets were demonstrating characteristics often
associated with giftedness in early childhood and the story described parenting
issues and differences of opinion with Great Aunt Hashtag

Then came a series of tales about asynchronous development as the Tweet family commenced Flight School

The Psych-Owl-Ogist was consulted and we learned about characteristics of giftedness and social/emotional aspects

Best Australian Blogs 2013 No 12B: More stories

This should be post No 13 in the Australian Writers’ Centre Best Australian Blogs 2013 competition series but little Imaginational Dabrowski would not let me use that number.
“Remember,” said the Memory Elephant “he doesn’t like the number 13 because he thinks it looks mean!”

The Memory Elephant, the Dabrowski Dogs and the Black Dogs have also been the subjects of storylines at Sprite’s Site.

memoryeleread01

The Memory Elephant is a personification of memory and the Visual Spatial Learner’s style of thinking. Some of the stories about the Memory Elephant have been gathered into a Youblisher booklet at Sprite and the Memory Elephant
http://www.youblisher.com/p/10752-Sprite-and-the-Memory-Elephant/
You can read about the Memory Elephant at http://www.giftedresources.org/jo/blog/?p=1000 and see an animation of the Memory Elephant in action at https://spritessite.wordpress.com/2009/11/20/memory-elephant-usb-morph/

Memory Elephants have their own holiday celebration on 30 December

spritesitread04

I noticed that Wistful Black Dog was sitting next to the Memory Elephant.
The Black Dogs are personifications of possible sources of depression.
Wistful is sometimes found with the Memory Elephant as he can cause depression by regretting the past.
The Black Dogs, who are all personifications of possible sources of depression, are described at https://spritessite.wordpress.com/about-the-characters/ and their story has been told in a Youblisher booklet http://www.youblisher.com/p/10553-Sprite-and-Black-Dog/

spritesitread03

The Dabrowski Dogs feature in many of the stories. Some of them have been gathered into a Youblisher booklet Sprite and the Dabrowski Dogs.  http://www.youblisher.com/p/11810-Sprite-and-the-Dabrowski-dogs/

The tale of the Dabrowski Dogs attending the Paws for Poise mobile grooming parlour is told in a Little Bird Tales book at http://littlebirdtales.com/tales/view/story_id/8013/

Another potential booklet is the series of posts about the Dabrowski Dogs solving a puzzle

https://spritessite.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/a-puzzle-2/

The Dabrowski Dogs are not always in agreement. There is often tension between the pedantic Intellectual and the visionary dreamer Imaginational. This was very apparent in the affair of the topiary tree octopus

“I knew where to take people to show them Sprite’s Site social media activity” said Sprite “But how do I show them where to find the storytelling to illustrate the writing on the blog?”

“If you had been more attentive to your Latin studies” said Intellectual Dabrowski “you would be able to read the sign and see that the stories are all around you in all the blog posts!”

There are several series of posts which tell stories about Sprite and the other characters. Some have already been gathered into Youblisher booklets or told on Storyjumper, Little Bird Tales or other online story writing programs. Others can be read by reading all the posts in a particular tag.

You can read about the character of Sprite at About Sprite
I took the opportunity to find out whether my readers understood Sprite in the way I hoped I was depicting her at
 https://spritessite.wordpress.com/2011/07/16/gifted-island-challenge-2-getting-to-know-myself-with-a-little-help-from-my-friends/

Most of the storylines on the blog are about Sprite and are used to help provide information about 2E Twice Exceptional students who are both gifted and have some learning difficulty or learning style difference and to give links to helpful resources.

Sprite’s giftedness is apparent in her thirst for knowledge and love of research and experiments  and in the deep, sometimes existential type questions she asks.

Storylines on the blog often deal with trying to find ideal provisions for Sprite’s education and advocating for her

A main theme is using De Bono’s Six Action Shoes as a planning tool to find programs that will be suitable for gifted students who also have a learning difficulty or different learning style.
Sprite is always depicted as having an injured left ankle and needing to wear different shoes on each foot to illustrate the concept that she needs different educational provisions for both her giftedness and her disability.

#gtstoogies Dinner for 13

Sprite has accepted Intellectual Dabrowski’s challenge to imitate The Thirteen Club http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thirteen_Club   and test the theory that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day and that it is unlucky for 13 people to sit down to dinner together  by setting up a Dinner for 13 for the #gtstoogies this week.

The Dinner for 13 will be held in Room 13 on the 13th floor of the hotel at No 13 Thirteenth St.

If you do not want to participate in the Dinner for 13 you can help yourself to a cup of coffee from the table. If you choose to join in the Dinner for 13 you must enter by walking under the ladder and pass the black cat and frog to get to the table set for 13 guests.

Other items which would concern superstitious people are the umbrella opened indoors, the spilt salt and broken mirror and the shoes on the table.

Through the window you can see a ship which will not be leaving port until Friday 13 is over.
