Mimosa breakfast for #gtstoogies

For the #gtstoogies get together after #gtchat this week I proposed a toast – and coffee and tea and Mobius bagels and fruit salad and yoghurt and – you get the idea -I proposed that we have another #gtstoogies all day breakfast.

Deep Waters Coach proposed that, in addition,  there should be Mimosas. Intellectual Dabrowski researched the matter and said we needed to provide floral arrangements of Mimosa Pigra and attract Mimosa butterflies to attend.

The wikipedia entry tells us
“Mimosa pigra (Giant Sensitive Tree) (pigra = lazy, slow), is an invasive species of the genus Mimosa, in the family Fabaceae. It is native to the Neotropics, but has been listed as one of the world’s 100 worst invasive plants.”

The idea of lazy giant sensitive tree was very appealing but mimosa  poses possibly  one of Australia’s worst weed problems.
Sprite who always argues about weeding and what constitutes the classification of a weed was happy to gather a large vase full of mimosa. Unfortunately it made Sensual Dabrowski sneeze and feel itchy.

Psycho Motor Dabrowski called out as he bounced past to go and play with the Twitter early birds that he had heard of a drink called Mimosa that some people had for fancy breakfasts. Intellectual Dabrowski went back to his research and announced that Mimosa drinks were, according to wikipedia
“Cocktail-like drinks composed of one part champagne (or other sparkling wine) and one part thoroughly chilled orange juice. It is traditionally served in a tall champagne flute with a morning brunch, as hair of the dog (!) or to guests at weddings.

So we bought a Mimosa outdoor furniture setting and served up some Mimosa cocktails.

The Memory Elephant wandered in still wearing his night cap and announced that he still had a clear memory of the previous #gtstoogies all day breakfast event and that some things about the scene had not changed at all!

  1. And a lovely time was had by all! So thankful for all the work you put into our weekly get togethers, Jo. Talk about stress relievers! Special thanks to Intellectual Dabrowski for all the research on our behalf. The mimosas were delicious. I also like a beverage referred to as kir which is champagne with blackberry liquor that I plan to serve at our next post chat party.
