“Look,” said Sprite “children from all round the world are making pledge patch quilt blocks. They are to raise awareness about climate change. The finished quilt will be unveiled at the United Nations in New York City on World Environment Day, 5 June 2010.”

“Quilters do some wonderful things. There is a local group of quilters who have made beautiful Snuggle Quilts for the victims of the Black Saturday bush fires.” I told her.

“I want to do some quilting and make a pledge patch too,” said Sprite.
It sounded like a great idea. Sprite is passionate about nature and the environment and this gave her an opportunity to be involved and to learn a skill which I hoped she would find enjoyable and creative. I showed her the 12 Days of Christmas quilt we had made while we were home schooling and brought out some pretty fabrics for her to use.
